Feb 9ths Learning Journal/Professionalism blog

Professionalism Blog: What does professionalism have to do with personal connections. How is personal connections with teachers important to your learning.

I believe that personal connections opens up doors to opportunities and learning experiences we never would have had. When you have personal connections with professionals you may learn from these people about how they conduct themselves within work, and with other individuals as well. In order for us to be business professionals as well we must learn buy observing and connecting with other business professionals. In the sense of personal connections with your teacher, I think its very important. Buy having a personal connection with your teacher you can both understand each other ona different level and respect each other as well. This inturn will make your school work more satisfying, it also can make you feel more obligated to perform your best within class.

Learning Journal Blog: Create a new workshop modeled after the one you read about to appropriately reflect First Nations values withour exploiting FN traditional ceremonies.

If a workshop has a purpose of teaching balance within life, we can refer to the teachings of the medicine wheel the medicine wheel has been symbol of healing, interconnectedness, and holistic foundation of peaceful interaction and personal growth. This can teach businesses our reasoning by the way we come to decisions with the influence of the medicine wheel. Therefore "how to make a decision like a tribe" well be informative rather than exploiting our traditions by selling our culture to businesses.

FEB 2 Learning journal/professionalism journal

Learning journal: Discuss someones article and something we learned from thier presentation.

The presentation that I would like to blog about would be Craig and Darcys presentation about "It shouldnt all be about money"
The point that i learned during thier presentation was when they stated that in order to be sucessful you must choose between profitability and growth.
What i learned from this is that in a business you must make some sacrifices to make it successful, at a point in time even tho we may need money in our personable lives we might just have to reinvest it into the business. Thus making growth and more likely to bring in more profits in the future. So you may open a business and see little profits within the 1-5 years because of the fact that you want a successful business and must be willing to put profits back into the business. This can be hard at times but it will most likely pay off in the future, because uinevitably growth is what brings in the bigger profits.

Professional Journal: Write down a promise about thje type of student you are going to be for the rest of the semester.

What I promised myself for this semester was to attend all classs and get homework done in time. And also to take schooling serious rather than not attending class and struggling last minute to get big assignments or tests completed. So therefore I will share what I had already promised myself with my other classmates, that way they can depend on me to attend classes perform to the best of my abilities.

Jan s26th Professionalism Journal

I am very excited to be a part of the business summit, because I had attended the first business summit and it really helped me figure out that I was interested in business. By attending the summit meeting I was honored to be surrounded by professionals that I am currently working to be. The committee will be a learning experience for what type of attitude and professionalism will be needed to communicate and perform tasks for the business summit. I am very excited to be involved with the committee and look forward to the upcoming work they will through my way.

Jan 26th, learning journal (Cluster)

The learning journal for this week was the brainstorming cluster chart.
Craig and I came up with a cluster of what we thought was important in Marketing.

The definition that best describes marketing is..
- the process of creating distributing, promoting, pricing goods, and services to facilitate satisfying exchanges and relationships with customer and develop and maintain those relationships.

Also you must intially--
know your target market,
know your business/competition

The four 4's of marketing :

- Product
-an item or service sellable to the region.
-Price
- Affordable for First Nations people.
- Tax emeption policies.
-Promotion
- Word of mouth is very powerful within first nation communities.
- Must relate to first nation people in different aspects.
- Promote during pow wows / festivals
- Promote by good will, and making charitable donations.
-Placement
- Is the product something that can be created within the community, and also will it create jobs.

Jan 19th Learning Journal/ Professionalism BLOG

We were assigned to write about what we expect of ourselves as students/professionals in training.
I believe that when we are students, we must act in a certain professional manner in order to fully be able to obtain our goals. By refering to our goals, I mean we are choosing education to give us an opportunity for bettering ourselves and obtaining a career. Not only does being a student educates ourselves in our certain feild of study in order to get that career, but it must make us grow on a different level as well. Being a student we learn that we must use our time management well, show up for classes, make deadlines, and be responsible. I believe that over the years of my studies I have grown to be a more dedicated student, and most of all obtained the skills needed to succeed in the professional world of business.

Professionalism Blog Jan 12ths class

Since this was Tinas first class, I cannnot fully compile if I grew professionally. So instead I will comment on how I believe I have evolved since my first day in University. I look back to when I first came here and really understand how much I have molded ever since. I was very young, and naive when first arriving to university but much of me has changed since. I have been through alot of learning experiences the past couple of years. But the biggest learning experience was when I had my baby girl Kylie. Since Oct 2008 I had a new outlook on life and had many things to change to make sure we could manage on our own. I have been dating my wonderful boyfriend for 3 and a half years now and we have been through everything together even bought our own house this past august. Making these life changing steps has made me more mature, and yes more professional. I now realize that school is something we should take advantage of, and it should be viewed as a job or work. And that we wouldnt just not attend work, or dress or act unappropriately at work. So this is what personally helps me to approach University in a different level, with the upmost professionalism and respect.

1st Blog

So im not exactly sure what we should be writing for our learning journal blog. So i figured I would share the fact that I did learn how to get my blog going. Last week we had learned about creating a video using and Imac software, which i thought was pretty cool since Ive had an Imac for 2 years now and still dont know how to use it to its full potential. Other then that I look forward to working with my fellow students and future leaders as Tina call us.
Have a great day
